WHERE is the trans activism for job & housing non-discrimination? To address male violence? To help TW exit sex work? To build shelters & counseling services for trans victims? To help trans people navigate the healthcare & legal systems? Why is no one doing this work? 1/x
Why is 100% of trans activism focused on transing children, invading women’s spaces & sports, & policing language? If trans people are as oppressed as we are told, where is the activism to actually dismantle those systems of oppression? 2/x
Let’s be clear here: Erasing & obfuscating the language around biological sex and erasing women’s boundaries when segregation by sex is necessary or desirable are not dismantling systems of oppression. Trans activists claim to want acceptance for trans people. 3/x
If this were truly the goal, to destigmatize the condition of body dysphoria and show the world that transsexuals are our friends & neighbors trying to live their best life, feminists would be right there fighting alongside them. 4/x
(Indeed, many feminists have formed alliances of mutual support with transsexuals.) But the aim of mainstream trans activism *isn’t* acceptance of trans people *as trans*; it’s to force the rest of the world to pretend that they are *actually* members of the opposite sex. 5/x
This is why “TWAW” (and to a lesser degree “TMAM”) is at the forefront of everything. It’s why you can support every conceivable human right & kindness to trans people, but still be excommunicated as a hateful bigot for saying humans can’t literally, biologically change sex. 6/x
Why not work to change the culture of toxic masculinity that drives men to homophobia, which too often results in TW being punished for being perceived as effeminate men, or for making straight men feel like they have to defend their manliness if they find a TW attractive? 7/x
Why not address the male supremacy that sometimes leads to sexual violence against TM by men who want to prove who the “real” man is? Modern trans activism ignores all of this; indeed, it seems to rely on its inevitability so that it can be used as a bludgeon. 8/x
Forcing the world to pretend that trans people have actually changed sex may feel validating to some trans people, but it does absolutely nothing to erase the stigma around being trans (since it seeks to erase “trans” altogether as a distinct way of being). 9/x
And it does nothing to address the underlying systems that lead to such stigma (patriarchy). It’s hard to take “TRAHR” seriously, not only because this statement hardly seems to be in dispute, but because it’s almost always said disingenuously, like a cry of wolf. 10/x
Having the physical body of a man and demanding to be not just treated, but seen in every way from interpersonal relationships to the law as a woman is not a “human right.” Having the physical body of a man and demanding to compete in women’s sports is not a “human right.” 11/x
Never being reminded that sexed bodies exist, obfuscating the ability of others to understand their own bodies, never having one’s identity “invalidated,” never feeling excluded, having the power to control the thoughts of others—these are not “human rights.” 12/x
Just as importantly, the absence of these things is not a violation of anyone’s rights—indeed, some of them arguably infringe on the rights of others. The trans lobby would be hard pressed to find a feminist or GC person who doesn’t think TRAHR. 13/x
But unless and until the trans lobby starts doing something beyond trying to erase women & the concept of binary, biological sex and indoctrinate & pathologize children, they’ll be equally hard pressed to find a feminist or GC person who believes *they* believe it. 14/end
