Joe Rogan is politically liberal, through & through. But in many ways, he is *culturally* conservative. That's why he reveals elite liberals' game so well. For them, politics is just a conduit for culture war. If you fail on culture, you are the enemy. Politics is secondary.
And to be clear, when I say cultural, I don't mean social issues. Because again, he is politically liberal: Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro drug legalization.
By cultural I mean doing and saying things associated with conservative, working class, or rural demographics -- hunting, fighting, lewd jokes, political incorrectness, etc. These are all markers of non-urban, non-professional class pedigree.
There are a lot more people like Rogan than the kind of people who dominate on liberal Twitter — people who are proponents of liberal social welfare policies but who also approve of ending a person's career because of an off-color joke or sharing an anodyne research finding.
If Alyssa Milano wants to figure out why she has far fewer listeners, she may want to start there.
