I've really come to hate the quasi-celebratory tweets about people who die of COVID by pointing to their reckless statements. Cain's behavior and comments were harmful but COVID-death is not something to cheer. All humans have done reckless things that make us *lucky to be alive.
This reminds me a bit of the attempt to divide those who died of AIDS into undeserving victims we mourn (Ryan White) and those who got what they deserve (gay people who were promiscuous and/or had unprotected sex). We all do stupid things sometimes from ignorance or recklessness.
Anyway, COVID is an extremely serious pandemic and those who continue to minimize it and mock the measures taken in response are being irrational and harmful. They don't "deserve" death but I hope events like this make denialists re-think the science and the reality.
