finally our golden arrows, the rafale jets have successfully landed in india. Its unmatched capabilities in carrying out variety of roles, beats all the 4th generation combat jets including F-16 fighter jet

and earn a tittle of being the only 4.5 generation combat aircraft.

SPECIFICATIONS-

The Rafale has been cleared to operate the following weapons:

* The MICA air-to-air “Beyond Visual Range” (BVR) interception, combat and self-defense missiles, in their IR

(heat-seeking) and EM (active radar homing) The MICA can be used within visual range (WVR) and beyond visual range (BVR). Its range is 80-100 km
* The METEOR very long-range air-to-air missile, The METEOR very long-range rocket and ram-jet powered air-to-air EM missile. Its

combination with the Rafale weapon system is a real paradigm change in air to air affairs. Its range is 120km- 150 km
* The SCALP missile, also known as stom shadow, is long-range air to surface deep cruise missile, with a game changing range of 560 km.

It means that we dont need to cross the border to attact our enemies.
* The HAMMER is a fire and forget-guided missile. It is like a mini SCALP missile, capable of destroying any kind of bunkers

Apart from that the rafale has-

* The AM39 EXOCET anti-ship missile,

* Laser-guided bombs with different warheads from 500lbs to 2,000 lbs
* Classic bombs non guided
* The 2500 rounds/min NEXTER 30M791 30 mm internal cannon, available on both single and two-seaters
* It supertech radar system with SPECTRA feature not only make it

low interceptable but also proving radar jamming features
* It has extra fuel tanks known as drop tanks.
* It has a tremendous speed of 1389 km/hrs despite of all the loads

The jets will also have 13 India-Specific Enhancements (ISEs) or upgrades which will become fully

operational in 2022 after undergoing “software certification”.

The upgrades range from radar enhancements, Israeli helmet-mounted displays & low-band jammers to towed decoy systems, 10-hrs flight data recording & engine capability for "cold start" from high-altitude regions.

Comparison between Rafale and chinese J20 combat aircraft-

* Rafale is 4.5 generation jet whereas J20 is 5th generation jet however, world has not yet defined the characteristics of 5th generation jet. Lockheed martin, a USA based defence corporation, define them as

having all-aspect stealth even when armed, low-probability-of-intercept radar (LPIR), high-performance airframes, advanced avionics features, and highly integrated computer systems. Stealth= kinda invincible. Currently, world has only 3 stealth technology based aircrafts,

J20 (chinese), F22, F35 (USA). Now, the interesting thing is that USA claims that Chinese has copy pasted their F22 as J20. So, you can say that the features of j20 are identical to F22. In 2009, in UAE during an airforce exercise rafale has successfully intercepted the F22,

which means that right now stealth technology is overhyped and rafale can easily intercept J20 too
* Both have AESA radar system, however it is not mentioned in J20 officials website. But Rafale has an edge here, it has radar jamming capabilities through its SPECTRA

features which J20 lacks. Actually the radar system of J20 is questionable as Pakistan when used J20, they replaced its radar system with European made radar system.

* Rafale has air to air METEOR.
missile having a range of 120-150 kms whereas J20 has PL-15 missile

which has a range of 300 kms (claimed by Chinese). But the catch point is PL-15 missile is designed to target only large aircrafts like refueling aircrafts and transport aircraft’s. It cannot intercept small and fast moving aircraft especially the one moving with tremendous speed

* J20 is still not well tested and has very less experience of battle field. Also Chinese Air Forces are u experienced however, rafale is well tested and has vital experience of battlefield. And indian Air Forces have capabilities to shoot down F-16 by MIG-23.

The only benefit Chinese have is they can build as many jets as they want however, India is dependent on other countries and have to spend billions of dollars for it. We need to work on it.

But again chinese technology is like ‘chal gaya to chand tak nahi to sham tak’
