One thing about WE that tells me a lot: people in charity & philanthropy sector who are NEVER ever outwardly political were very vocal about raising flags about that org (& this recent deal). That’s says a lot. (Wasn’t about competition- aren’t like this w other big charities)
It’s also telling that so many in Canada’s political establishment - liberal, con, green (haven’t seen ndp ties but willing 2 amend) - did not see what so many saw: the absolutely weird fidelity to this org.
It’s a view into to the insularity of Cdn establishment, across parties. John Tory a witness at 1 of their weddings. The other trips, the chuminess. The ruling class blends together. If you live in Toronto, at all three levels of govt, you’re led by a scion of inherited wealth.
