Short Business Story...

A competitor who operates a business in another area of the country called me today.

Asked me if he could run a small team out of my office location. COVID was restricting his operations. 🩠

I have a relationship with him due to industry meetings.
So the request wasn’t completely out of the blue.

I had to think... đŸ€”

Would it cost me money? Probably

Would it interrupt my business? Definitely

My answer?

Yes.

Am I crazy?

No. So why would I say yes?

Let me tell you why.
1. It was the right thing to do. The situation could easily have been reversed.

2. I may need his help one day. Every good deed deserves another.

3. I may need to do nothing and still get a favor. Offer to help, but not need to.

Potential Leverage
I said leave it with me and I’ll see what I can do. When I called him back and said yes, he was VERY appreciative.

I got lucky.

Number 3 actually happened. He changed his mind.

Still owes me a favor.

There are lots of ways to win in business. 😉
