These 6 elected officials are on the policing bill conference committee, which is taking the recent Senate and House policing bill and unifying them into one bill. We want to make sure this bill does as much to further racial justice as possible. Here are some key elements: (2/7)
Sections 34-40 of the Senate Bill, which would require transparency and public decision-making about local police acquisition of military equipment such as tanks, grenade launchers, and armored vehicles is an essential piece of legislation needed in this bill. (3/7)
Section 78 and 29, respectively, of the House Bill establishes reasonable safeguards around the use of no-knock warrants, and gives a definition to the term "choke hold" are also essential in the framework of this bill. (4/7)
