1/ Maffick, the company I work for, is suing Facebook for falsely labeling us “Russia state controlled media,” which is meant to scare away our audience. 2/ This is soft censorship that makes it impossible for Maffick to diversify its client base and pursue commercial interests all because of some paranoid think tanks like the Atlantic Council and German Marshall Fund who want to erase all criticism of US wars and empire.

3/ Media outlets should be alarmed at how Facebook, under pressure from the US government, will arbitrarily post an inaccurate and defamatory label on your page that screws with your ability to do business like any other company. It’s unfair and sets a dangerous precedent.

4/ Facebook’s definition of “state-controlled media” is based on criteria that Maffick does NOT even meet! Maffick is NOT controlled operationally or editorially by the Russian government or Russian state entities or officials.
