So I see we're back to the "OMG SECTION 8 HOUSING" thing again. Fabulous. Just what we need to deal with yet again. Soooo because it's so stupid and racist, let me YET AGAIN tell you the tale of my racist neighbor and her quest to rid the community of Section 8.

My former neighbor, who is racist AF, but not the sort to use the N-word...she's what I call a "polite" racist. She came to me with "concerns" about the number of "Section 8 renters" who were leaving trash everywhere, being loud, etc etc etc -- the usual racist complaints.

She wanted to know if I could help to "put a stop to it" because it was "affecting HER property values" and "OMG RACIST BLATHER".

Little did she know...

...every single household she was talking about? They were homeowners. Homeowners JUST LIKE HER. They weren't renters at all. In fact, some of these families lived in my former neighborhood for generations. She, on the other hand, moved in the Bad Time of 2006 or so...

...and horribly overpaid for her house, which is now probably worth about half what she paid. And instead of dealing with that like a normal person, she blamed "THE SECTION 8 RENTERS". Think about that for a second -- she blamed HER bad financial decision on...random strangers.

So the next time you want to piss and moan to me about "OMG SECTION 8 RENTERS", don't. Just don't. Find something constructive to do.
