Yesterday I spent hours on an online education class, trying to update my assignments. I couldn't figure it out, and there was no one to ask. There was a due date attached. I started getting really stressed out. I wmIled the instructor but never heard back. It was a mess.
I'm no Luddite when it comes to tech- as I was working I was making & sending process videos to a colleague on how to access AP scoring rubrics & student work. I like technology. But with no one to ask or help out, I got a taste of how my students felt with online instruction.
At three hours, I gave up. I submitted my work for what it was. Then I moved on to the next lesson. Meanwhile, there's a noisy flatbed outside loading up machinery, the H keeps popping in, phones are ringing-I felt like many parents must've-working with constant interruptions.
It made me realize how stressful any change in schooling for whatever reason, no matter how slight affects families who are trying their best. It made me realize that everyone is trying. We're all going to have to be more patient with everyone:admin, students, parents & ourselves
