Twitter as a wingman:
Many people leave value on the table by not leveraging Twitter to its fullest potential.
In the last 2 years, I’ve
- met my cofounder @gill_works
- built 2 mastermind groups (ex: @zerotoonemakers)
- built a buzzing community @getcuppaio

1/ Treat your URL followers like IRL friends
People can sense care. If you care about them through tweets & DMs, they’ll likely treat you with the same respect
Aim to make friends, not just vanity metrics on Twitter

2/ Refrain from consuming unhealthy content
I rarely engage with negative tweets or someone’s rants because you can choose to. Just like in real life, unless someone personally wants to talk to you, don’t be annoyed by whatever their struggle is. You don’t know the story.

3/ Share content that speaks to smart and ambitious people
Speak from your heart & choose to write consistently on things on your mind. Twitter has a lot of open-minded people who’ll be drawn to u gradually
Resist sharing viral videos or other hacks purely for numbers

4/ Show your proof of work and scars from failure
People love vulnerability. A lot of the times, it’s easy to hide failure or imperfect work. Don’t.
Be authentic, show the evolution of your work. At each turn, make it interesting for them (not just you!)
Be relatable

5/ Reply to DMs whenever you can
It’s a little challenging when you have lots of msgs but in the early days, be responsive. My cofounder hit me up on Twitter first & we hopped on a quick call. It turned out to be one of the best phone calls!

6/ Less about location, more about intent and identity
My two mastermind groups have people from Atlanta, Leeds, Chicago, Montreal and more
We’ve been meeting weekly for over 100 weeks as one group and 7 as another. A lot of us met on Twitter

7/ Use Twitter’s serendipity to your advantage
Based on things I tweet about frequently, Twitter’s algorithm surrounds me with people who are curious
When I built @getcuppaio, the first 100 users came from Twitter. No easy feat for a founder to get that milestone!

8/ Twitter when done well is a Go To Market strategy in itself
@getcuppaio has now over 500 beta users and close to another 700 on the waitlist. I love our community!
Our entire marketing budget was $0. We relied on one acquisition channel: Twitter

9/ Lastly, Twitter rewards the audience-first mindset
There are thousands of curious and kind people who love self-motivated and consistent creators and founders
They’ll join your journey, root for you, buy your products and invest money
If you #buildinpublic
