Thank you for the lovely interview @LadyCaraBentley and for highlighting the work of @IJMUK during the Covid Crisis: these are crimes that thrive in the dark; so shining a light on them is a powerful thing indeed- thank you @PremierRadio for doing just that THREAD:

The truth is, at @IJM we've seen vulnerability to modern slavery increase massively over lockdown; whether due to increasing levels of poverty and unemployment, or huge spikes in online exploitation (predators locked in at home abusing young children over the internet...)

There are already 40million+ people in slavery today & it is as vital as it's ever been to take action NOW, or rates of slavery will rise, even as rates of Covid 19 fall.
This is not the sort of 'new normal' we want to see- where the vulnerable are left more vulnerable- right?!

I believe that this is a pivotal moment for us all: a moment where we can choose what sort of future we build.
I pray we choose to build a future of justice, kindness and of freedom.
A future where no matter where you live, or if you're rich or poor, you are safe to thrive.

A future where we love our global neighbours.
A future where we can truly say that 'slavery is a thing of the past'
A future where all are free.
