Kasa fort/Padmadurg ( Raigad): Sambhaji Maharaj is credited for building around 1676, to keep a watch on the activities in the Arabian Sea.
The sea forts built by Shivaji Maharaj in such a manner that they were virtually impenetrable.
Underi and its sister fort Khanderi were key fortifications in the Maratha defence against the Siddi and British during the 17th century. Both forts were built on islands off the coast of Thal, near Alibaug.

Rajmachi Fort:
The fort played a strategic role in the First Anglo-Maratha War.
Rajmachi has 2 fortified structures- the Shrivardhan fort and the Manaranjan fort.
My father often used to visit Rajmachi village as it was an anglers delight.
Harihar fort: constructed to look upon trade route through Gonda Ghat.British officer, Capt Briggs describes it as wonderful & writes; words can give no idea of its dreadful sleepness. It is perfectly straight for,I suppose 200’ and can only be compared to a ladder over 1/2

Suvarna Durg Fort:
Constructed during the reign of the Bijapur empire in the 17th century. It became among the many forts that Shivaji captured, it operated under the reign of the Maratha Peshwas until 1818. It’s name translates to ‘Golden Fort’, suggesting its significance.1/2
Suvarna Durg Fort: The fort was built for defence and ship-building, and is closely associated with the nearby land fort of Kanakadurg. Access to this fort is only by boats from the nearby Harnai port.2/2

Shivaji Maharaj seized this fort from Adil Shah of Bijapur in 1653 and renamed it to 'Vijay Durg ' as the then Hindu solar year 's name was 'Vijay ' (meaning victory)

Ratnadurg Fort,Ratnagiri:
Horse shoe shaped fort.Built in the Bahamani period. Thereafter, it was under the rule of Adilshahi in 1660 A.D. 1670 A.D. Chatrapati Shivaji brought many forts in Konkan including the Ratnadurga fort under the Maratha regime.

Tung fort,Lonavala : Built before 1600 CE by Adil Shah but was captured by Shivaj Maharaj.
Shape and structure suggest that its main function was as a watchtower overlooking Maval region of the Pawana and Mulshi valleys guarding the road to Pune city

Korigad Fort,Lonavala,Pune:
Shivaji Maharaj incorporated this fort in Swarajya along with Lohgad, Visapur, Tung and Tikona in 1657. On March 11, 1818, Col. Prother invaded this fort but could not succeed even after prolonged fighting.

Finally he succeeded on 14th March, by dropping a cannon ball where the ammunition was stored. Along with this fort the British also conquered Ghangad.

To reach the fort, tourists need to trek for 45 minutes ,there are 1,000 steps.

Torna fort: तोरणा किल्ला
This fort is believed to have been constructed by the Shiva Panth, followers of the Hindu god Shiva, in the 13th century.
A Menghai Devi temple, also referred to as the Tornaji temple, is situated near the entrance of the fort.

Kenjalgad Fort, Wai, Satara: It is rhomboid shaped fort, atop Mahadev hill range at an elevation of 4269 ft

Upon hearing of Tanaji's death, Chhatrapati Shivaji expressed his remorse with the words, "Gad aala, pan Sinha gela" - "The Fort is captured, but the Lion is lost"

According to few historians, the name Sinhagad was given much “before” the battle and not “after” the battle

CHAULHER FORT/ चौलेर किल्ला, Nasik:
The history is similar to the Salher and Mulher forts. The fort was ruled by King Gawali.This fort was under the control of Maratha empire until it was captured by British forces in 1818.
GAWLI FORT, Amravati:Constructed in 12th century.Was made of mud. The fort was built by the Bahamani Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1425-26.
Nizamshahi dynasty in 1574; Mughals in 1600; the Marathas in 1744, before it finally fell to the East India Company in 1803 AD.
JIVDHAN FORT,Pune: Built during the Satavahana period.
Jivdhan to Naneghat has an open field of 2–3 km, which gives any clear indication of enemy approach. British captured this fort in 1818 and destroyed all approaches. It was captured by Col. Prother and later destroyed.

In 1636, the Mughals got the fort of Chavand by signing a treaty with the Nizams. On 1 May 1818 the British forces captured the fort from Marathas. Destroying each and every monument of the fort along with the route to reach the top of the fort.
