It isn’t a second wave, it’s a continuation of the first in patches.
We knew this would happen, especially in places where there was less.

People going abroad (ie me) for holidays aren’t doing anything wrong. We are living our lives the best we can.

This virus appears to be sticking around, but we cannot stop life indefinitely. I have had a fascinating perspective being away. It’s normal with a few tweaks. It’s amazing. The country here isn’t paralysed, it’s adapting. 2/
I am dreading coming back (having been very lucky to be away I know) to a country that is paralysed and divided by fear and poor leadership. I am way way better physically and mentally than when I left, thank god. I am very fortunate to have had the rest. 3/
I worry that a loss of perspective has occurred perhaps in the UK and despite the numbers of those in hospital not rising much at all since opening up, the fear instilled in the population has caused so much harm 4/
I don’t seek to diminish the effects of the virus, on those like me with ongoing symptoms, those who have been very unwell and those who have lost loved ones. Neither on the hard working people who have cared for us all during that time in many ways 5/
We must remain cautious but we have lost site of all the harm, not just covid, and need to now redress that balance. We need to think logically and carefully, not just make decisions based on fear or things that may or may not happen. 6/
We now have a potentially more harmful scenario to deal with, a no deal brexit, and this will exacerbate all the problems we already have and make way more. We cannot go into that paralysed by covid. 7/
Which I fear is what the govt would quite like, it’s a good distraction.

I will be going back to my job, caring for people who are unwell and trying to make the best of it. But I have had a chance to rest and think. I am lucky. But I am also very fearful. And it’s not of covid
And this pic is totally #peak2020
