I see something wrong with how #MUFC is working out the entire #Sancho transfer process and I wanted to blurt it out.

What I see from how #MUFC is running things and how the fanbase wants it is simple - #Sancho or bust.
The truth is, it doesn't work that way. Sure, Sancho is probably the best among the available right wingers, but that doesn't mean he's the only one.

We have found a great player on the right in Mason Greenwood. Obviously, he can't be the only right winger in the squad.
If we sign Sancho, then Sancho will be the first-choice RW. If we sign someone else, it could be that Mason is first-choice. And he's shown to be good.

The thing with the transfer market is, that you're looking to find value.
Any given target has a particular value attached to his importance to the present team. Any team looking to sign him should see how the team's value gains when this player joins.

The latter always has to be higher than the former. Because any rational club will sell their player at at least how much value he is to their team, if not more. And any club who buys will have to ensure that he's worth more to the team than what the club's paid for.
The current approach of United, what I'm calling Sancho or bust, reeks of desperation. And BVB can clearly see that. They've figured that the management and the fans won't be happy if we don't sign Sancho.
So they're obviously, going to raise the price.
So they're obviously, going to raise the price.
And that price, may be more than how much value he would bring to the club. And that can work badly for us. Imagine signing someone for €120m, realising he's not worth that much money, then calling him a flop, putting added pressure on him (he's human after all).
Instead, what the club could have done was keep a host of options. Sure, others may not be as good as Sancho is. But they can add depth to the squad at a much lower price. So, let's say you sign someone for €30m, and he turns out to be improving the club's squad by €50m.
That's still better than buying someone for €120m but he turns out to be an €80 or a €90m player. The extra money can be put on other parts of the squad.
Because of our desperation, BVB will raise the price.
Imagine, if we were also looking at three other right wingers. For the sake of an example, let's say Valencia's Ferran Torres, Wolves' Adama Traore and Watford's Ismaïla Sarr. Different levels of quality, different prices.

(Yes, Torres is going to join City, but I'm asking you to imagine)
If BVB raised the price on Sancho, there'd be a credible threat of us stalling negotiations and we start talking to one, if not all three of these clubs.

If Sancho wanted to join United, him and his agent would press BVB to restart negotiations and accept a far lower price. So, instead of the current scenario, we could get Sancho for a much lower price because we kept our options open and made it clear that we're looking for value
If we had the current mentality in 2003, just after Beckham moved to Real, we would've probably spent an abnormal world record fee on Ronaldinho instead of identifying Cristiano.
Sure, Ronaldinho is a star. But he'd have to get used to the United setup, learn English etc.

If he didn't work out with United, would've been a world record fee down the drain. Instead, we bought Ronaldo at a moderate price, allowed him to develop at his own pace, and we saw a Ballon D'Or winner.
