Not had chance yet [was too busy earlier this week writing a response to org that is cutting its specialist nurse staff] but would like to know how different this is from the NHS Constitution. This set out: 'rights for patients, public & staff'. #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS

You'd expect my eyes to be drawn to 'Expanding & developing our workforce' in #OurNHSPeople plan. As said repeatedly, we needed plan to give some concrete actions & demands that would improve some NHS professions that been badly damaged over last 10yrs #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS

Interestingly, yesterday I raised issue of #OurNHSPeople plan at @NHS_HealthEdEng All-England Learning Disability Nursing Steering Group. We had a presentation about workforce numbers. I asked about how much work would be reflected in plan. #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
So how many times is learning disability nursing mentioned in #OurNHSPeople? 0. Learning disability appears to get 1 mention, related to important issue of routes into employment for volunteers ⬇️ #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
Interesting on 'Encouraging return to clinical practice'. We have to remember this has been fuelled by people wanting to help with #COVID19 pandemic 👏👏👏. Would be important to know how many hours the 'interested' 50% could offer... #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
For example, if all 50% of 2,140 people did come back and do 1 day/week, [and IF they were all nurses], that would equal 0.4% whole time equivalent of the 50,000 nurses pledged by @BorisJohnson #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
I was hopeful that, inc. in/alongside #OurNHSPeople plan & #OurNHSPeoplePromise, we would see package launched focusing on how NHS would better support its staff #MentalHealth. Whilst #COVID19 has had massive impacts, this was already a big problem. #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
Instead, it feels v light on this. Maybe a glimmer is: 'Further action for 2021/22 & beyond is expected to be set out later in the year, once funding arrangements for future years have been confirmed by the government.' #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
We really shouldn't be kicking getting support for NHS staff #MentalHealth down the road & relying on future @Conservatives largesse. Now lesson 2 @MattHancock: 'Supporting collaboration and change by busting bureaucracy'. We hear again about President Kennedy. He argues that people were enabled to share info over WhatsApp, this would have taken years without #COVID19 #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
Lesson 3: Developing technology. @MattHancock says how he was criticised: 'Take away their fax machines and care homes will collapse'. > No Matt, I think you'll find you did other things that caused huge crisis in care homes over last few months #OurNHSPeople #WeAreTheNHS
