fuck it. thread on celeste, things about it, and my thoughts on it
this probably wont make too much sense since im just writing what comes to mind
the prolouge is a very nice introduction to celeste. on the first screen it shows that you constantly have to be on your toes, always ready for whats coming next. and then the dash mechanic is introduced very nicely. the first like 3 screens of the game teach you the basics (1/?)
like jumping, grabbing and dashing. going to chapter 1, you are now able to collect berries, which are fantastic collectibles, i love them so much, especially how they tie into the end of the game with the final pie
you are also introduced to the traffic light blocks, (2/?)
which move when stepped on. its a nice way to show that each chapter will have its own gimmick, and how you can use that gimmick to beat the chapter. on top of this, the first crystal heart puzzle is so interesting, and from here on out it only gets better. (3/?)
chapter 2 starts off in the dream world, where you meet Part Of You (who i will refer to as badeline from now on) and you are also introduced to dream blocks, which allow you to sorta swim through them if you dash into them. this gimmick is so perfect, i love it so much, (4/?)
and its so fun to incorporate into the speedrun. the crystal heart of this chapter shows you that there are game mechanics that may seem unintended, but are. going onto chapter 3, although i may not like it too much, i love the aesthetic of it. the rundown hotel (5/?)
run by the ghost, mr. oshiro, and how everything is clogged up by his negative thoughts and other things. i love looking at this chapter, but maybe a bit more than i do playing it. chapter 4 is a very chill chapter, and introduces the clouds, which i love so fucking much (6/?)
because of how fun they are. on top of this, we get blue bubbles which are super fun to use! and we also get these blocks that move when touched, but their path can be changed depending on the block. in all honesty, chapter 4 is super cool to me and i'll always love it (7/?)
chapter 5 is when we see theo and madeline going into the mirror temple. oh yeah, forgot to put this in chapter 1, but theo is such a cool guy! i love him and madelines friendship so much! anyways, we get red bubbles and blocks that move as you dash in chapter 5, (8/?)
which are so fucking cool! i geniunely love them so much
anyways, after we free theo from his crystal cage, we leave the temple, and move onto chapter 6, where madeline talks to badeline and is then brought down into a cave. you use the feather and bear blocks (9/?)
to move through which are dope as fuck! i love them so much! then we fight badeline, as she tries to bring down madeline, but eventually they make up, and madeline is even stronger than before with 2 dashes instead of 1! then, we move onto summit, which is basically (10/?)
a recap of every chapter and its best parts and oh my god does it do a good job of encapsulating everything about each chapter. it goes through a mini-section of an alternative form of the chapter, and they always play and look great! then, you reach the 3000m mark (11/?)
and from there its a countdown of 30 checkpoints, leading all the way to the summit. its one of the most beautiful things in the game, i stg. then, after that, is the epilouge! where madeline, badeline, oshiro, theo, and grandma all share a strawberry pie (12/?)
then theres the post game stuff, which is core and farewell
i'll just skip to farewell bc its so good and i love it, bc its madeline dreaming that shes going to go see grandma after she died, and the story is so heartwarming and at the end she video calls theo, (13/?)
and they find out that grandma and theo's grandfather climbed the mountain together! i love watching all of theos and madelines interactions they are never bad!! i love celeste so much its the perfect game for me and i'll never get over it
end of thread!
