One of the easiest and BEST things I've learned about trying to break into the industry is this:
If you want to break in - no matter the capacity - you need to understand your social media and treat every post as if it is a General.

Be yourself, have fun, network, and understand that socials are a TOOL in this industry.
And be prepared to answer for them. I'm ready to answer anybody who brings up my issues proofing tweets or why I have been tweeting Garcetti non stop.

But seriously. People see you. People see what you're saying. And you're easy enough to find that even if a person you meet with HASN'T ALREADY looked you up, they absolutely will.
Your peers see you too. It's not about "impressing" upper levels or managers or whoever. It's about being YOU, building a network of peers and being someone they want to work with.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. DO. NOT. MISUSE. SOCIALS.
Don't be a creep. Don't be an asshole. DO NOT BADGER PEOPLE TO HELP YOU.
Think of it this way: everything you do on here is literally handing your potential bosses ALL OF YOUR RECEIPTS.

There's a rule in politics that applies:
Anything that could be a scandal when you set out to run, you've already done.
Treat your socials the same way.

If you can be a good person online, it's really not that difficult to also just BE A GOOD PERSON irl.
Ex: "I say fuck too much on Twitter. I'll think twice before typing it." -> "I don't like how much I say fuck and will change."
(Mind you, Chaucer swore a LOT)

Everything always comes back to what I call "JP's Rules for Life."
Rule #1: DON'T BE A DICK.

PS... Yes, I am prepared to explain to any and all future bosses, co-workers, or friends why I think "eBussy" might be the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Also, I am totally prepared to explain WHY that is funny. Ask at your own risk.
