The reason I don't like cis people acting like the know it all authority on trans issues is really simple I'll spell it out. It's the same reason Maine Trans Net is PEER TO PEER support, trans people supporting trans people. Because up until a few years ago the only support you
could get was under cis doctors watching and diagnosing, and wondering how to ' fix' us. Its through this scope most if not all research is done. Next to non of it actually starts at a neutral point of ' trans people have always existed and arent bad' Instead the prime majority
of the statistics we use come from mental and medical fields wondering how to ' fix' something that isnt broken. It's just another path. That leads to all the non trans people blabbering out like they know something, still seeing it through these statistics and studies. Where as
a trans person can give it to you and truly explain how we feel, that we arent a monolith, that all these expectations and barriers are bullshit, that peoples lives defend on it. As a non trans person you can try to empathize, but you'll never fully get it. Yea every trans person
DOES know more about you then HRT, I can say that generalization because look at how many trans people have to educate their doctors and their therapist to get treatment. Imagine going to the doctor and have to explain to them that you need blood pressure medication, that yes
this medication exist, here is why you need it, and heres how it works, and here are its risks. YOU CANT IMAGINE THAT because its not realistic to you. Its definitely fucking reality to us. Trans healthcare isnt taught, its extra shit a doctor or therapist has to go WAY out of
their way to learn, and spoiler alert 98% dont. So we have reasons not to take the cis statement and word over our reality, because we live this reality. Get back to me when theres actual funding to trans research especially if its a trans lead study.
