this is a genuine question that we need a different understanding of what the situation is than what the liberals present us.
Short version: this is a highly curated demographic which accepts a society-level justifying ideology to its furthest extent and it must be broken. https://twitter.com/MonsterMouf/status/1288659799345901574

Now, if racism is a system-justifying ideology, what does that mean? Well, the American system was built partially with the forced labor of people who existed as property, bought and sold as commodities, treated as things. Machines.
This is, frankly, an atrocity.
This is, frankly, an atrocity.
The problem was: this country founded itself at a time when it used open slave labor and had the gall to say "all men are created equal." A bold statement which made a justification for kidnapping and enslaving into a very tall order.
Enter race science.
Enter race science.
Fear of the unknown, xenophobia, and demagoguery existed before US capitalism, but our modern idea of "race" did not.
Race was created to de-person. That's it. That's all.

People who say "racism existed before US capitalism" don't understand that while prejudice which we would today characterize as "racism" it was not until race science that the current conceptualization existed.
When (open) slavery was abolished, former slaves started at zero. No wealth. No resources. No education. Nothing. Poor/working class white people often had very little, but still more.
And true upward mobility even only happened for a relatively small number of white people.

I'm simplifying a bit, but for black people, there is probably no way to genuinely overstate the disadvantage they were/are at.
Again, white upward mobility is for a select few. Black upward mobility just didn't happen for the most part.

Now, lots of black people worked *hard* post slavery but got nowhere.
That kind of sounds like it invalidates the "hike up your bootstraps" bullshit to me.
But wait! Race science! It still works to "explain," doesn't it?

On top of explaining why black people don't get a leg up as much, it also flatters their working class compatriots of white skin - democratizing the pretense of superiority while keeping them in their place.
So we have a divided working class with ideology that puts people who should otherwise have each others' backs at each others' throats.
Between that and the labor market, the competitive mindset... I feel we can see the why/how.

Stressing that I am simplifying, part of what we can do to undermine this ideology is:
1. universally improving material conditions, which will disproportionately help the marginalized
2. demonstrate that no one's benefit *has to* come at another's expense
1. universally improving material conditions, which will disproportionately help the marginalized
2. demonstrate that no one's benefit *has to* come at another's expense
in no way will this fully end racism itself. I think ideology-killing is a lot more complicated than is possible to demonstrate in a Twitter thread, but I also think that the social mode relies on the US state/capital structure for power
unfortunately, this is not easy. to change material conditions is to try to do something that everyone's brain is resisting
I said that these outward racists are accepting the ideology of racism to its fullest extent, but a lot of society accepts it to a lesser extent
