Since joining @commonthreadco in June and the world of #DTC @Twitter shortly thereafter, I’ve noticed the #impostersyndrome I thought I’d kicked has been rearing its ugly head again. But rather than relax into that darkness I’ve decided to unpack it. Here. Publicly. Why?

It’s important for people in leadership positions to show vulnerability. But I find it even more important as a woman, because I want to show up for the ladies who come after me - THIS IS NORMAL AND WE ALL GO THROUGH THIS.
New challenges can be daunting, so insecurity can feel natural. But after sitting with this familiar sense of dread, I this narrative in my head has nothing to do with my abilities, but is instead a reflection of the admiration I have for the talent and dedication surrounding me.
If you’re not looking around the room and thinking to yourself, “Holy shit - I can’t believe I get to be a part of this incredible group/community/team….how did I get here?” then you are almost certainly in the wrong room. You don't grow without being challenged.
No one can be the best at everything. Every one of us has strengths to bring to the table and weaknesses that require us to rely on the expertise of others. Unless you’re a sociopath or narcissist, you should know that. I KNOW that. I just don't always feel it.
So for anyone out there thinking, “I’m a fraud and it’s only a matter of time before I’m found out,” I want you to know you’re not alone.
But as for me - I’m the real fucking deal, and it’s not luck, timing, or a lie. I deserve this. And I am so grateful to be surrounded by such smart people who are challenging me to get better every day.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
