The communications around WE on the conservative side are like that telephone game. The CPC says some (questionable) stuff and quickly it turns into the Liberals made a deal with WE which, apparently, involved WE hiring Trudeaus years before the pandemic...
In exchange for getting this government contract which would give WE a billion dollars. Excuse me? Who has the DeLorean with the flux capacitor?
Everyone who has testified has been credible. There was due diligence by the civil service. No one got kickbacks. WE wasn't going to make a pile of money, and they don't own millions of dollars of Toronto real estate. And yet...
Conservatives will not believe any of it because they already had their minds made up, even before this was broadcast by the CPC and willing media, that whatever the Liberals are doing, it's corrupt.
You can't reason with people who have their minds so firmly made up. They are psychologically unable to entertain the possibility that the party they favour is just dragging out loads of codswallop because they know their base will embrace it, and consume it with glee...
And they hope Canadians who don't really pay attention to politics will buy it and it will make them forget the Harper years. They want power so badly, they will sacrifice the hopes and dreams of Canadian university students to vilify and unseat the government.
It's sad, really. And shocking. What would they do with power? They clearly are not interested in the public good or they would be working with the government to help Canadians through this health crisis. Instead they say CERB will make Canadians too lazy to go back to work.
That's what they think of us. So, who are they working for? Who would they be working for if they were in government? Take a peek at Alberta if you want an example of a gov't that is actually working against the best interests of its citizens...coincidentally? Also conservative.
