One of the core components of life is variations in expressions. There may be a scientific term for it but I don’t remember it. In humans this manifests as diversity in genes, race, gender, neurotype, sexuality, bonding styles, cultures, and various structures of minds. - Sajia
And in many other areas. This tendency to have variation is necessary for life to thrive. So any structure or process that tries to get in the way of this variation, are actually contributing to destruction of life. - Sajia
Often the purpose of these structures is not only to encourage forced uniformity but also to distribute more resources to people who conform to one “superior” type. This causes the “outcasts” of the structure to have less chance of thriving. - Sajia
As a result of this imbalance of power, the supremacy structure gets more validation as the social traits of humans are misused to uplift it. And eventually this weakens the thriving power of the society this happens in. - Sajia
One of the processes is gatekeeping. On a bigger scale these look like disproportionate land and wealth allocation to a “superior” type of people. On a smaller scale in oppressed groups, these look like “we don’t want our limited resources wasted on ‘fakers’ “
For oppressed groups, it looks sincere on the surface. We already have little resources and we don’t want to share it with people who aren’t “really oppressed” like those of us who are “really oppressed.” But it’s the same pattern on a smaller scale. - Sajia
This has been done on many occasions in history and it is a very old pattern. Each time a new group does it, they think they came up with a new original idea but really it’s the same old exclusionism and superiority complex with its own flavor. - Sajia
In history this has shown up when white feminism excluded black women and other woc, when gay rights started excluding trans people, when trans groups started excluding nonbinary people. - Sajia
Additionally, ace people being excluded from lgbt, aspergers separating from autism, TERFs excluding trans women from women spaces, are some of the more recent examples. Some of these I’ve observed in communities I’ve been in. - Sajia
The danger of gate keeping is not just in resource distribution but also something that makes a person feel that they are unwanted in the world. It impacts their mental health and convinces them on some level that they should not exist. Which is, in essence, anti-life. - Sajia
Being anti life is completely different from wanting a safe space. Safe spaces are needed because the world in general has become an unsafe place for minorities due to the existence of these structures. And they are trying to carve out a space where their existence is ok. - Sajia
If these safe spaces don’t have the support for diversity that is also lacking in the world at large, then it’s not really better. Accepting diversity is the core of safety. - Sajia
All this applies to all the identities we relate to. Including #pluralgang, #TransWomenareWomen, #asexual, #autistic, #nonbinary - Sajia
Here are some of the most inclusive statements I’ve heard...
“You are ace if you relate to the experience of not feeling attraction towards anyone. And if you feel that the label helps describe you”. It’s a very broad and inclusive message. - Sajia
“You are plural if there are more than one person/consciousness coexisting in your body”

“You are trans if you dont feel that your assigned gender applies to you”

All these statements speak of *experience* and gives plenty of room for flexibility and diversity. - Sajia
Humans aren’t inherently unsafe. Behaviors can be. Stimulus of some types can be. But humans in general aren’t. What makes these inclusive spaces safe is that hateful/harmful behaviors are not included. Exclusion of specific types of humans don’t make it safer. - Sajia
In those inclusive spaces there can be people who finally speak, and there can be people who listens. Even within a minority experience there are levels of privilege. Inclusive communities focus on healing their members and empowering the less privileged members. - Sajia
