The thing I find funny about this latest round of Afro-Lantinx erasure is that BOTH John Leguizamo AND Dascha Polanco were in ‘When They See Us’. This means that not only did they witness their co-star Jharrel Jerome, who is Afro-Dominican, win an Emmy for his performance— https://twitter.com/johnleguizamo/status/1288307040146907136
—but Ava DuVernay, a Black female director, was intentional about casting and including them in that limited series. In that story. Which Leguizamo SCORED AN EMMY NOMINATION FOR AS WELL.
And yet. And yet.
And yet. And yet.
Leguizamo doesn’t surprise me much. He was dropping nigga this and nigga that at his big age of 54 in “Latin History”. But @SheIsDash does, as she has stated she herself that she is Afro-Latinx.
So me? I’m expecting a clarification (like let’s really say it like adults instead of talking around the issue) and an apology. But mostly an apology. Because that was some disrespectful and anti-Black shit.
