Finished interviewing with a company after 2 months. Today I got a call from the recruiter saying that I was perfect across the board, but they decided to switch their priorities around and go with another candidate.
I also got an email today from another company that had expressed extreme interest in me, but kept pushing the date for my 1st interview back. And after 3wks of rescheduling, they said they decided to go with a candidate who was farther along in the process.
I'm done hazing myself mentally and emotionally, while companies have me building applications, preparing presentations, coming up with roadmap ideas and strategies on how to run evangelism and launch a new technology. Doing all of this for FREE.
Learning their technology and reviewing documentation, laying out ways to enhance the developer experience to multiple teams, while they "take notes"..
Then, about an hour ago, I check my email and see that photo of me, in the latest @WomenWhoCode newsletter! The theme of the newsletter was stepping out on faith and being a strong leader in tech...
I felt confirmation from God, was instantly reminded that my journey embodies all of that to the 1000th degree!
I made a decision today cancel all of my upcoming interviews. I'm great at what I do, I love what I do, I inspire other people doing what I do, and I don't necessarily need a company to do it. I am a brand.
I teach about personal branding for developers all the time. And I am a PRIME example! My value doesn't lie within whatever company I've worked for. I AM the asset. My knowledge, my experience, my skillset. It's especially important to know this as a black woman in this field.

Most people still never even noticed that I don't have a job because I'm still doing all the things I would be doing with a company, and still doing at a high level.
And so, my focus will continue to be building and educating the dev community as a #FreeAgent! If you would like me to collaborate with you to help achieve these things, promote your technologies or produce engaging technical content, DM me!
Excited for this new season!
