We need to work to de-center whiteness in farming games and cottage core type stories. Currently, these almost entirely center white stories, and frequently ignore the racist histories behind them.
It doesn't need to be that way, everyone should fit into these escapist fantasies.

farm type fantasies make a lot of sense in 2020 in the US. Parks are frequently being taken over by luxury apartments, income inequality is making homes, lush scenery, and fresh food luxury items. Every job takes almost all profit away from your production.

But somehow games and media still center around you moving from the city to a place MUCH less diverse and the most popular cottagecore tik tok creators are skinny and white.

One solution is to lift up non white experiences in this space. Here are some of my fav farming and cottagecore tik tokers who are also not white!

Also if you are currently making a farming game please please examine the diversity in the area you deem as a lovely escape. What you feature in the area they leave, and the area they go to very acutely expresses your idea of what an escape is and what we are escaping from.
