Setup TONIGHT. Use as excuse to Zoom a friend and make sure you’ve got... https://twitter.com/alexlhouck/status/1288591273864003585
GOOD LIGHTING. May need to pull some lamps from other places or put yourself in a weird corner. It’s fine it’s temporary. Do at night in case weather doesn’t give you sunshine.
Hide the wine. When I tested my Zoom setup for attending jobs I realized the 3 years of collected wine bottles on top of the cabinets made me look... questionable. So they got recycled. (Shhh, we had parties and my husband is Italian)
MINIMAL CLUTTER. You want them to see YOU, not wonder about the boxes and craft supplies behind you. Which led to me moving a table and lights to make a corner of our kitchen look clean!
PLAN FOR YOUR CATS. They are jerks who will zoombomb you, jump on the keyboard and laugh as they scamper ON the power button. Furry adorable monsters.
Wear pants/bottoms. While I think professionalism dress codes are a blunt tool of sexism and racism - wearing pants is NOT optional
(Implied that dresses, skirts, kilts, etc are fine. Just not Roos or Bike Shorts That Might be Roos)

Be yourself. Do your hair and dress the way you want. If they don’t like you they probably suck.
This is #FamilyMedicine and we should be open to natural hair. And hair CHOICES like purple. I wasn’t less of a doctor when I looked like this. And my pts loved it

CAMERA ANGLES. This is why you Zoom a friend. Move it all around until you look “good” and then find enough old heavy textbooks to sit it on top of. You know you have them on the floor somewhere.
Taking notes? I like pens and paper, but I type way faster than I write. BUT you can hear me clicking keys on zoom and it’s distracting. Balance it out and remember at IRL conference you’re usually standing face to face, talking, no notes & then ran around a corner to jot it down
#MedStudentTwitter if you have other tips share them!
This is an #AAFPNC thread and I’m an attending who can’t remember to tag.
