Joe Kelly suspended 8 games for not hitting anybody (with a pitch or a punch) and walking to his own dugout after the 3rd out.

This ruling seems like a pitiful attempt by MLB leadership to reinforce their judgment against the Astros as sufficient.

Players clearly disagree.
An 8 gm suspension is ~22 in a full season. You could argue a punishment that severe based solely on speculation of Kelly's intent is Manfred admitting he mismanaged the Astros scandal and he anticipates the players to respond accordingly.
Manfred granted immunity to the team that did the worst and now he assumes the worst of the rest of the league. This is why he's lost the respect of the very players he's supposed to commission.
