But racial disparities aren't limited to entrepreneurship. In fact, the gap begins at birth. Black babies are three times more likely to die than white babies in Wisconsin.
For those children that survive, one in three will live in poverty. That is more than three times the rate that white children experience poverty in Wisconsin. But the differences kids face don't stop there.
Black 8th graders in the state had lower testing scores than any other racial group. Black students are also more than seven times more likely than their white peers to have out-of-school-suspensions. This is the second largest disparity in school suspensions in the nation.
30 percent of white Wisconsinites hold a bachelors degree. Only 14 percent of Black Wisconsinites earned bachelors degrees. Take a look at how higher education disparities correlate to economic inequalities.
When people experience poverty or are struggling economically, some will often turn to crime. Black people in Wisconsin are more than 11 times more likely to be incarcerated than white people in the state.
Join us tonight at 7 p.m. as we continue the discussion on racial disparities in Wisconsin. #JusticeForAllWI
