No I do not agree with people trying to ban the current tampax ad. It infuriates me that in 2020 we can’t normalise talking about periods. Weirder things have happened let’s be real. Let’s see some of the things ‘people’ are uncomfortable with shall we? (1/7)
People say it ‘mortified’ their teenagers. You know what else embarrasses teenagers? Literally everything. I’m 24 and my teenage brother is even embarrassed by me. When I was a teenager I was mortified by my parents. Every teenager is embarrassed by literally everything. (2/7)
People feel uncomfortable when it’s on in front of their male family members. No. It’s a man’s problem if their uncomfortable by this, (which is ridiculous in my opinion anyway cause they sure are bloody glad when Aunt Flow comes to visit aren’t they). (3/7)
Not 2 weeks ago this ad came on in my house. Within the same ad break an ad for erectile disfunction came on, this is all before 9pm btw, do you think people are as uncomfortable with erectile disfunction as they are periods? No. There’s that double standard again. (4/7)
The way phrases used. It’s light hearted. It has nothing to do with sex. Many women are confused as to how to use a tampon correctly, the ad explains it in a light hearted way. It just so happens your period comes from a sex organ. It is not sexualising the use of tampons. (5/7)
I’ve seen some people say that people think if a young teenage girl is using tampons that means she’s having sex. What fucking planet are you on?! No it does not? Again, nothing to do with sexualisation, that is a brutality and backwards thinking of society today. (6/7)
Girs, having periods is normal. Using pads is normal. Using tampons is normal. Using menstrual cups is normal. Talking about our periods is NORMAL. Men can talk about whatever the fuck they feel like and we can’t? Not anymore. (7/7)
