There has been some reporting about federal law enforcement withdrawing from Portland.

While misinformation begins to swirl, here are the facts:

1. The state agreed that the streets and parks around the court house would be adequately policed taking away the staging areas that were used to launch attacks on the building and law enforcement

2. @DHSgov law enforcement there will only redeploy after the state implements its guarantees

3. @DHSgov sent some officials to Seattle because of a specific threat—when it did not occur, they were redeployed.

There was no deal or retreat in this case.

4. After the state of Oregon promised to provide better security around the federal court house in Portland (taking away the city streets that rioters used to stage their late-night assaults), the governor tweeted THIS:

This Pravda-like statement from @OregonGovBrown suggested that the federal government was wrong to stop violent anarchists from continuing to destroy property and assault innocent people—a complete and utter falsehood.

A few facts to show that this is really organized criminal activity:

1. They show up after peaceful demonstrations end—between midnight and 5:00 a.m.

2. They've been caught with IEDs, accelerants, Molotov cocktails, knives, spikes, chainsaws, crowbars, and laser pointers.

The strategy is assault on the building—and when agents come out to put out fires or fix the fence they viciously attack the agents.

Over 200 federal officers have been injured and over 90 arrests have been made.

The propaganda and talking points which have proliferated so quickly online have served to undermine legitimacy of federal law enforcement
