So today after the plenaries, we had an #Exo3 from Mexico
edition
And it was so

, we scienced and it was great.
Here is a summary of the work that we do

And it was so

Here is a summary of the work that we do

Oscar Barragán ( @oscaribv, postdoc at Oxford) measured the mass of a young (~750 Myr) transiting planet providing a crucial constraint in this age range for a mass and radius of an exoplanet.

Arturo Miranda ( @amirandarosete, master's student at ICN UNAM) modeled the effect of flares in the Oxygen of archean Earth atmosphere. He is working with Antigona Segura's group ( @antigonasegura).

Sam Brown-Sevilla (gradstudent at MPIA Heidelberg) measured the spiral arms of a young disk with SPHERE and ALMA to study the whether disk structure is due to a baby planet.

Romina Petrucci (recently finished a postdoc in my group and now at Córdoba, Arg) studied ultracool m-dwarfs photometrically for flares, rotation periods and transits to study their planetary environments.

Miguel Jara-Maldonado (computer science gradstudent at UDLAP) used wavelet decomposition to find transits in Kepler light curves.

Luis Welbanks ( @Luis_Wel, gradstudent at Cambridge) compared the abundances of metals in hot exoplanets from mini-neptunes to jupiters to probe formation.

Emiliano Jofré ( @EmiJofre, postdoc in my group) presented the detailed study of two Kepler planetary systems each around an RGB star providing 2/3 constraints for this evolutionary phase.

Antígona Segura ( @AntigonaSegura, professor/researcher @icnunam) was also there and told us about her theoretical and lab work to study astrobiology. She is also currently leading the Mexican Astrobiology Society ( @somastrobio).
I (professor/researcher at @iaunam) told them about SAINT-EX, the first and only exoplanet dedicated telescope in Mexico of which I am project coordinator. SPECULOOS is our sibling and we are looking for transiting planets around ultracool mdwarfs.
