1) BC has announced a full back to school reopening for K-12 for the fall. I know this is scary for some but its an incredibly well thought out plan and crucially with 45 million $ investment to keep teachers and kids safe #bcpoli https://globalnews.ca/news/7227148/bc-back-to-school-plan-september-coronavirus/
2) The learning cohorts will
opportunities for exposure to #COVID19 and allow for targeted testing, quarantine, and isolation of a single cohort instead of school-wide measures in the event of a positive case #bcpoli https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/reopening-schools-faqs.html

3) "Schools have always had immunocompromised children and will provide enhanced protocols and safety measures for them" @BCSTA_President reassuring parents and teachers they will be included in the planning #bcpoli
4) Bottom line: school closures did not affect everyone equally. For families living in poverty, with kids with disabilities or violence, for parents who are essential workers we were struggling. We are so grateful for this investment in our kids futures and to live in BC #bcpoli
5) School closures carry high social & economic costs. Impact was particularly severe for the most marginalized families. The resulting disruptions exacerbated already existing disparities within education but also other aspects of their lives @UNESCO https://en.unesco.org/covid19/educationresponse/consequences
