So much to respond to here:

1. Many low-income people are, it turns out, also trying to "live their Suburban Lifestyle Dream," and they would benefit greatly from more accessible affordable housing. Somehow they don't count according to Trump. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1288509568578777088
2. Much of the housing referred to as low-income (e.g., LIHTC) actually is for people living at 60% of the metropolitan median income. In New York City, for a 4-person family, that's $68,220, hardly low-income. That's actually higher than the national household median! ($61,937)
4. Obviously none of these facts matter in the face of the broader societal obligation to ensure that people of all means have access to good schools, good public services, & safe streets. The Trump Admin is showing it has little interest in such empathy for others.
5. If *only* the Obama Admin rule on AFFH (that Trump has rescinded) required affordable housing in high-income communities! In fact, it was a weak rule that primarily asked cities to take stock of current conditions; it did not require them to do much in terms of outcomes.

Good news is that researchers at @MITdusp like @nickelly
& @ReedKJordan assembled data and conducted analysis of the AFFH plans' effectiveness nationwide: https://furtheringfairhousing.mit.edu/
