If I see the word “empowered” in relation to feminism one more time I will surely blow my brains out

To quote Bell Hooks: "We have to restore feminism as a political movement. The challenge to patriarchy is political, and not a lifestyle or identity."

Poisoned by internalized misogyny & hijacked by neoliberalism,feminism has been bastardized to become nothing more than a "feeling," a perfectly posed black&white picture on a curated timeline. Reminder that theres nothing "challenging" about appealing to expectations of beauty..

Feminism is a principled political movement with the primary objective being to liberate women from the subjugation of patriarchy & all its manifestations. Its not about "your individual right" to "feel empowered" its about women's collective right to live free from violence.

I don't mean to be a contrarian over seemingly harmless trends, but that's just it... accepting these things as "feminism" actually is quite harmful because it liberalizes & therefore neutralizes the revolutionary political power of a proper feminist movement.
