Has anyone brought up the fact that the vice chair of the House Antitrust Subcommittee takes direct campaign contributions from Google, Microsoft and Amazon?
Val Demings takes money from three of the companies now being supposedly grilled before the Antitrust committee
Mary Gay Scanlon takes money from both Google and Facebook. I'm not watching the hearings so I'll just assume these relationships are being disclosed
Jamie Raskin gets paid by Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Hank Johnson gets campaign donations from Microsoft, Google and Amazon
On the other side of the aisle, Antitrust Subcommittee member Ken Buck gets money from Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. (source for all of these is the FEC website)
Matt Gaetz got big checks from Google, Microsoft and Amazon for his 2018 race, though they have yet to contribute in 2020. So he'll be on his best behavior!
Kelly Armstrong gets the most love from Microsoft, who are not on the stand today, but also receives money from Facebook and Amazon
And finally, Greg Steube takes money from Microsoft, Google and Amazon. So there's your antitrust hearing—a bunch of politicians interviewing a panel of their most generous donors (with the notable exception of Apple, who do not have a PAC). The corruption is admirably bipartisan
Note that all of these politicians also give an enormous amount *back* to Google and Facebook, in the form of campaign advertising, and that because of the very monopoly they are supposedly investigating, they are utterly dependent on their continued good graces
