This time two years ago I met privately with the office team at Momentum. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they were taking anti-Semitism seriously and understood how important it was to fight denialism 1/5 https://twitter.com/peoplesmomentum/status/1288532384661544963
I had expected something quite different, because of previous behaviour, and over the coming year or so they put their money where their mouth was and made some important interventions such as videos and behind-the-scenes work to expose anti-Semitic Facebook groups 2/5
It is sad to see that whoever is now running momentum (it isn’t the same people) has dived headlong into the same conspiratorial denial narrative which was such a toxic part of the antisemitism issue 3/4
It is easy to criticise the equality and human rights commission and some of the criticism is undoubtedly valid. However the report on anti-Semitism in Labour should be judged on its own terms, not dismissed as a political conspiracy as has been the BBC, the courts etc 4/4
It is impossible to imagine an institution which would not be traduced if it cast unflattering light on Labour under Corbyn. It’s so tiring and irresponsible. Rather than listen to criticism it has always been about lashing out. A terrible, toxic culture.
That wasn’t bacon it was Labour Party fliers
