It’s time to talk about @cut and their Black Lives Matter statement. https://twitter.com/cut/status/1268273236640440322
I’ve gone back and forth on opening up about my experience at Cut for a long time. But the invaluable courage of so many Black women speaking out on their experiences working in media + entertainment gave me a strength, and truthfully, a movement I’ve needed for a while.
This hurt to write but I need to do this for my own healing. For the person I am now, for the person I was then, and for the vision of myself I’m hustling towards now.
Parts 1-4
Parts 5-8
If Cut doesn’t want to go back to “business as usual” as their statement says, these are some of the experiences they’ll need to address in order to change their workplace culture and uplift Black storytellers. It is hard work. Hard, necessary work.
