Twitter is a great place on days like this. It’s a celebration and it’s a testament to what happens when there are leaders who are ACTUALLY for the culture, of the culture & ABOUT the culture in HIGH places. The work @JasmynBeKnowing @strongblacklead is doing is so incredible!

This feels bigger than just a celebration of content coming back, man. This move is soul-stirring, and I know that’s a little deep but hear me out.

The actors in the shows that are coming back to @netflix paved the way/ inspired the Black creators who are leading in TV & Film today.

But because so many of networks like the WB &UPN ended, their work was just erased.

They never got their things.

This is a start to do so.

When @IssaRae had @KylaPratt on Insecure this season, she gave her props for inspiring her to want to be on TV.

These shows literally inspired the very people who are shattering barriers and setting new standards to believe there was a place for them in Hollywood

THIS IS MAJOR!

Like when I wrote for sites in the past that closed, I would feel horrible about all of my hard work disappearing into thin air. I quickly learned to save it and repurpose my clips for my own files...

But, I imagine these actors also felt like all their hard work vanished, too.

I hope that as these shows come back & we relive our childhoods, we also take a moment to celebrate this group of actors for what they represented to us when these shows were on.

It’s time we give them their things. Hollywood is watching. It’s time we demand they receive them.

Because THEY deserve.

So much of what we take in on TV/music helps to inform who we become.

Seeing Brandy, Countess, Tia, Tamera, Tracee, Golden, *Jill Marie, Persia, Kyla, Sicily (++more) everyday on my TV growing up def changed the game for me.

So happy to see them get celebrated in this moment!
