At DEL T3, dropping my daughter for the Lufthansa flight. Live observations: 1. Airlines are allocated specific gates. This is Gate 6, for Lufthansa (1/n)
Long lines moving very slowly, no social distancing, and many pax not wearing masks properly. In the meantime, gates 5 and 7, though fully staffed by CISF, are empty, reserved for United and some other airline (2/n)
It would seem that it would be better in terms of social distancing and in terms of processing time, if all airlines could use all gates or at least two entry gates assigned per airline. Not sure what the constraint is (3/n)
No signage as to the gate system and which airline for which gate. Need to ask people in line and figure it out. We want to empty Gate 7, and was told after navigating entire ribbon that it is for only for United. Would be good to have visible signs at the queue entrances. (4/n)
Immigration lines short, but no separation by Indian or Foreign passports, or by class of travel . Security limited to few counters only, and very crowded with no social distancing. Mask usage inconsistent, including by staff on duty. (5/n)
Seems where there needs to be be separation of queues (ie immigration), there is none. And where there is not a need (airport entry), there is. And unnecessary bottlenecks. (6/n)
Daughter finally on board, alls5 well that ends well! 🙂
