joe biden knows what anarchism is. he’s been alive, and politically engaged, for far too long, to not know the fundamentals. when he conflates “anarchist” with “criminal” he is making a conscious choice. i’m fine with that.

anarchism is not about criminality, nor chaos, by any common definition of those words. anarchism is about opposing all forms of oppressive power, about forming communities and societies without oppression.

yet every single government agrees on one thing: the anarchist is the enemy. capitalist democracies, fascist autocracies, socialist dictatorships, they all agree on this one thing. you can practically use “hates anarchists” as a definition of what constitutes a state.

let them hate us. let them use the word anarchist negatively. when someone thinks “not this fucking system anymore,” they SHOULD think of us. they are welcome to then discover a rich tradition and diverse framework of ideas, strategies, and structures.

i’m proud to be part of this movement of movements, to be aligned with other non-anarchist movements that also seek worlds without oppression. to seek a world in which many worlds are possible.

and to be reviled by those whose power i seek to end? it’s an honor.
