For the past four plus months my wife Lindsay has not only taken care of me, but she’s had to take care of the kid by herself, and all of the housework by herself, and all while working a full time job from home. If it weren’t for her I know I wouldn’t be alive today.
She thinks of everything from every angle (I don’t understand how she does that), and usually spots things that I don’t when it comes to the types of questions to ask or remembering information that has been told to her.
I’ve come to understand this type of work is emotional labor, and that the weight of that usually lands on the woman (I’m speaking only of my experience as a man married to a woman here).
I know these are just words, but I wanted to express my absolute gratitude for the work she has done to literally keep this family alive and healthy, even at the expense of her own health and sanity, which has gone completely unappreciated for too long.
I’m a slow learner, but that’s no excuse for inaction. I love you, Lindsay. Thank you for saving my life.
