So y’all remember this tweet from early June that came at me and Jasmine out of nowhere.
We replied to the attack but nothing nasty. Feel free to investigate. She never replied and we moved on, hoping she was convicted that she crossed a line.
Strangely, this was posted one month after she attacked us. I don’t know which is more disturbing, her tweet or the replies.
I’m posting this as an example of the level of self deception at work in the people trolling you and calling you names. They’re robbing you of valuable time that you could spend with family, friends, or those interested in genuine dialogue.
Remember, hurt people hurt people. My question when I see professing Christians attacking others is, “Who hurt you?” Many use Twitter to get whatever it is they’re desperately seeking & at your expense. They need more Jesus and a lot of therapy to deal with past trauma and abuse.
So when trolls attack, the most compassionate way to engage, I think, is to not engage directly but pray the Lord disciplines, heals, and restores. He’s able to do more through a prayer than you can with a tweet.
Challenge: Make a list of those slandering and attacking you online. Pray for them at least once a week. It may transform you more than it changes them.
