97 days until Election Day! As I mentioned yesterday, record numbers of Americans are voting by mail or absentee ballot this year. Many Americans, however, will want or need safe in-person voting options in order to vote in November. https://twitter.com/cbsnews/status/1263050564734156801
As @CDCgov has noted, limiting congestion and promoting social distancing are an important part of slowing the spread of COVID-19. So how can Americans vote this year, while limiting congestion and promoting social distancing at the polls? https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/election-polling-locations.html
If you can or want to, please consider voting by mail or absentee. This will help reduce polling place congestion for those who need to vote in-person. In case you missed yesterday’s thread on mail ballots, here you go. https://twitter.com/benhovland/status/1288095748769415170
Voting before Election Day can also alleviate lines and crowding. If you need or want to vote in-person, check your state or local election official’s website to find out if your state has early voting or in-person absentee options. @NASSorg’s http://www.canivote.org  can help!
This year there is a new effort that @eacgov is proud to join called Vote Early Day 2020 ( @voteearlyday). October 24th is Vote Early Day this year, but please consider exploring all of your state’s options for early voting to help limit congestion. https://twitter.com/voteearlyday/status/1288146352224993286
Your polling place will likely look a little different with information about social distancing and potentially stickers, tape or signage on the ground to help maintain adequate distance. Following this signage and instructions will help poll workers focus expediting voters.
Limit your time in the polling place. Please take the time you need to vote, but if you can update your voter registration information in advance of your state’s deadline, it will reduce the likelihood that you will need to fill out a change of address form or provisional ballot. https://twitter.com/benhovland/status/1287741673984921601
In order to ensure there are enough polling places for all Americans that want or need to vote in-person on Election Day, we need poll workers. Please tune in tomorrow to find out more about how you can help our democracy by serving as a poll worker.
