The bipartisan statement features 350+ Student Body Presidents representing all 50 states and millions of students. This includes student leaders from red states, blue states, big schools, small schools, and everything in-between. 2/

Despite varied life experiences and political leanings, we all agree that climate action is essential and that the carbon dividends solution provides a clear, bipartisan path forward. 3/

Within this cohort are varying perspectives on other aspects of climate policy. Importantly, however, we all recognize “the power of a consensus solution like carbon dividends to bridge partisan divides, protect our shared environment, and strengthen the economy.” 4/

The carbon dividends strategy offers unique bipartisan appeal. By harnessing market forces, it would accelerate clean energy innovation toward a healthier, more prosperous future. Thanks to the dividend, it would also ensure revenue-neutrality & protect the most vulnerable. 5/

Most importantly, the carbon dividends plan would work. Through carbon pricing, it would cut to the core of the climate challenge and deliver faster, cheaper, and greater emissions reductions than ever before. 6/

This national student statement builds on last year’s Economists’ Statement on Carbon Dividends, which was signed by thousands of econ professors from across the country. So many signed on that it became the largest statement of economists in the history of the profession. 7/

This includes 27 Nobel laureates, every former living Fed chair, and 15 former chairs of the Council of Economic Advisers, representing every Presidential Administration on both sides of the aisle in the last half-century. 8/

In a show of force, America’s top economic minds united around this consensus climate strategy. Now, student leaders--in record numbers--are carrying the torch forward.
