I took out identifiers of who posted this because this has nothing to do with who posted this and, in all honesty, this is a kind gesture.
But, here’s the thing, there are folx celebrating the gesture and not looking deeper to see how deeply disturbing this gesture is.

This isn’t a bashing post. I can’t believe some of us have to preface that but here we are. This is me turning tne picture and gesture around. Looking at it sideways and on its head. Parents or students have to go to a lot to access internet. This would require a car, right?
But let’s say you had a car. You need to leave your house and park in a lot to access the internet. The internet where your school forms reside, where your child’s classroom reside, where your own education resides. Something that should be a basic right. You need to sit in a lot
So how can we make this better? How can we offer hot spots to families? How can we dialogue with families and ask “what do you need from us”? Because if you’re not asking them what they need from you, how dare you then turn to a child and demand anything back from them.
It might be also important to note, If a family needs to sit in a school parking lot to access the internet, they won’t likely see a tweet telling them about this access. But, hey, I’m not trying to get all the meat from this bone.
