qualified for other work. And even across roles, fields, & ranks, folks of color (or BAME given this is from the UK) still earn less. So if you’re already in a low wage field, try buying your own transporation when you already are paid less. Then there’s the medical field...(2/n)
Folks of color, anywhere, are less likely to be taken seriously in medical settings regardless of income, education, job status, etc. Physicans don’t listen to us. (3/n)
So no. This type of thing is NOT ok. Visuals are just as important as the messaging. And this is seen all the time in data viz work and it gets me upset. Technical skill & creativity is a must but you HAVE to also know the systems & environment your data exist in & frame properly
Data (especially those that represent people) do not exist in a vacuum. Know the environment. Know the history. Know the structures. Message and frame your results accordingly.
