20+ years in health/fitness/nutrition/athletics industry, working with young swimmers to IFBB pro body builders; here's the order:
1)Genetics
2)Drugs
3)Nutrition
4)Training/Recovery
5)Sleep (it's own subcategory of Recovery)

What you are usually presented with are #1 and #2.
#2 pushes the limits on #1, and seemingly even pushes through.

If you don't have their genetics, and aren't on their drug protocol, your results won't even come close no matter how much time/money/sweat you spend on #3 #4 and #5.

2 entirely different worlds.
Your genetics are incredible and miraculous. They have strong points, and less desirable points. That's everybody.

Insta and the likes of BodyBuilding .com have some amazing and incredibly helpful content, and usually for free, BUT much of what you are seeing is #1 and #2.
Some iteresting facts (IMO):

One tool bodybuilders use, especially closer to a show when calories and energy are obscenely low, to get even more defined? Low impact, no recovery necessary WALKING.

YES, simply walking in a calorie deficit can help you lose quite a bit.
Might be boring, but it works incredibly well, and simce the recovery needed to repair is almost nonexistent after a few days or weeks of it, you can do a TON of it.

Here's another...

"Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym". Yeah, we all know that, but did you know...
that...ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN???

Really grasp that, stop trying to outwork a garbage diet, and you will start to see some glorious flatness and/or increased definition in the old show-abs.
Your biggest competition, the biggest opponent is not the cover model, Insta expert, genetically gifted or possibly PEDs utilizing professional.

It's you.

The you of last week.

Better this week than the you of last? Sleep better? Work harder? EAT LESS? Then...

Incredible job!
You are and continue to be amazing, but grow up, get educated, and put things in a proper and realistic perspective; this ain't Insta, and Men's/Women's Health will never pound down your door for a photo shoot.

Eat well, work hard, recover, and repeat. One day at a time!
