This is my attempt at dispelling 2 bipolar myths in one thread...
#1 People with bipolar are only ever (hypo)manic or depressed. Untrue. Many people have long periods of stability in between episodes or even remission of symptoms, when well managed with treatment that works for them.
#2 Moods and emotions/feelings are the same thing. To me, they aren’t. (Feel free time disagree btw). Overall right now I would describe myself as happy & stable but within one day I can experience a variety of emotions, good and bad. It doesn’t mean I’m ill, just that I’m human!
To demonstrate this, on Monday 27th I kept a “feeling diary”. See below. I really struggle with worrying about getting ill again, to the point of making myself ill from the stress! But this has helped me put my feelings into perspective. I hope some of you find it reassuring too.
