Courts as 'Fathers' : A Dialogue Comparison
Recently, while reading the High Court in Hadiya case I felt that wordings of the court's order echoed exact lines of a typical father in Hindi cinema (or in real life). So I thought of sharing the samples.

Before that a background. The High Court in Hadiya case had questioned her conversion and married to a Muslim man. Despite her unequivocal statement about her desire to live with her husband court court questioned the validity of her marriage calling her girl at vulnerable age
Court- "We are not aware of the identity of the person who is alleged to have got married her. We are not aware of the antecedents of the said person or his family background."
Father- "Kaun ladka h? Konsi Jaat Ka h, konsi biradari Ka hai'
Father- "Kaun ladka h? Konsi Jaat Ka h, konsi biradari Ka hai'
Court- "We Consider it duty of this court to ensure that a person under such a vulnerable state is not exposed to danger."
Fathers- "Beta! Ye to hamara farz hai ki aap galat raste par na jao, aap safe raho."

Court- "It cannot be accepted that the she is in safe hands"
Father- "aap kahi galat hatho mein na pad jao, beta"

Court- "it is necessary to bear in mind the fact that a female in her twenties is at a vulnerable age"
Father- "Beta, abhi aapki umar chhoti hai, aap ye sab Nahi samjhte"

Court- "It shall be ensured that she is not provided the facility of possessing or using a mobile phone"
Father- "Aaj se tera mobile band"

Court- "No other person is permitted to meet her"

Court- "we are concerned about the welfare of the girl of her age"
Father- "Beta hum to tere bhale ke liye kah rahe hai."
Father- "Beta hum to tere bhale ke liye kah rahe hai."
Court- "Her marriage being the most important decision in her life can also be take only with the active involvement of her parents."
Father-"shadi ka faisala to maa-baap se Puch Kar Kiya jata hai"

Court- "Police should maintain surveillance over them to ensure their continued safety."
Father- "Suno, aaj se is ladki par nazar rakhna"
Father- "Suno, aaj se is ladki par nazar rakhna"
It rang a bell reading the statements of the court. Almost like a script from a father daughter conversation where daughter has just told her parents about her love. Words are window to our worldview. This almost mirror image of father and court dialogues is telling.
Extremely sorry to people who are not fluent in Hindi. But I could not write these dialogues in English. So sorry.
